I’ve Been Using These Viral Beauty Tools for 3 Months. Here’s My Honest Thoughts
Alice Hartwell
From LED masks to filter shower heads.
It seems like a new beauty tool hits the market every day, with our routines becoming more high-tech by the minute. As a confessed beauty nerd, I’m all for a little at-home tech. But these devices don’t come cheap, and investing in one isn’t a decision to make lightly. You want to know it’s actually going to make a noticeable difference to your skin.
For the past three months, I’ve been putting some of the most viral beauty tools to the test. Scroll on to discover my experience with each and find out which devices are genuinely worth investing your money in.

Few devices have dominated the beauty scene lately quite like LED masks. They’re also one of the few pieces of at-home tech that experts really get behind with gusto, thanks to the impressive results they can deliver.
I’ve been using the Omnilux Clear LED mask for months now, almost nightly, and can safely say it’s become a natural part of my routine.
With consistent use, I’ve noticed that my skin looks noticeably less inflamed, and its overall vibrancy has improved too.
It’s worth saying that LED works best with consistency and the results aren’t instant, so you do have to be patient. But for me, this is definitely one worth the investment.
You’ve likely seen this little tool making your favourite influencers look suitably ‘snatched’ over on TikTok.
The ZIIP Halo is a microcurrent device that uses different electrical currents to work with the skin’s natural bioelectricity. It comes with an app of targeted routines to address different skin concerns, whether you want to depuff and sculpt or improve skin tone and hyperpigmentation.
I loved this tool and have come to rely on it far more than I ever thought I would. With its accompanying app, there are so many different treatments you can sync to the device, so I feel like it meets my skin wherever it’s at on any given day. Plus, with both short and longer treatments to choose from, it’s easy to fit in.
I wouldn’t call it an absolute necessity, but if you’re a fellow beauty nerd, I don’t think you’ll regret the investment.
I actually first tried Hello Klean’s shower head a year or so ago. After going several months without replacing the filter, I started to notice that my hair looked visibly thinner and that I wasn’t seeing quite as much of my usual growth.
After putting a fresh filter back in? The difference in my hair regrowth has been quite astonishing. The shower head is designed to filter out some of the minerals and impurities associated with hard water (aka, the kind of water where I live), helping to create a better environment for overall scalp and hair health.
I genuinely wouldn’t be without this shower head now. Of all the devices I’ve tried, it’s one of the few where I notice the biggest difference when I stop using it.
I’ve always been a little lazy when it comes to styling my hair. (I’m much more of a skincare and makeup girl.) It also has the kind of texture that never really wants to do anything other than sit straight, so spending hours blow-drying and curling only for it to fall flat soon after became something I gave up on long ago.
Had I always wanted to dabble in the Dyson Airwrap of it all? Sure. But I’d never quite felt ready to part with that much money for one. Enter the CLARA 6-in-1 Toolkit.
A bit of a dupe, perhaps, but one that has worked wonders for me. It’s revolutionised the way I style my hair, giving me so much more volume and making the whole drying process quicker and easier. There’s a standard hairdryer attachment, a blow-dry brush and, of course, an ‘Airwrap’-style curler.
Fine, straight-haired girlies, you’ll love this one. (Especially at under £200.)
As someone with generally tired-looking eyes, the concept of an LED eye mask intrigued me, especially as I’d been getting on so well with my full-face LED mask. (The under-eye area is the one place it doesn’t reach, so it felt like it would be a good targeted treatment.)
I didn’t use these patches every day, but instead reached for them on occasions when I wanted to look a little more alive than usual. I definitely noticed that my under-eyes looked brighter and more awake after using them.
Granted, these aren’t the most comfortable to wear. (They’re secured with adhesive stickers and can feel a little top-heavy.) But as a pre-event piece of tech to have in your kit, they’re a nice addition.
A necessity, though? I’m not convinced. For most people, I think a good LED mask will do you just fine. (And a brightening eye cream, for good measure.)
