I’m a Fashion Editor Who Just Got Back From Paris. Here’s Every Outfit I Wore
Alice Hartwell
From shopping in Montmartre to sightseeing along the Seine, here’s everything you need to pack.
Last month, I spent a few days soaking up everything Paris in the spring does best—namely, indulgent carbs and sweets, shopping that made my bank account wince, and an endless parade of impeccably dressed people whose outfits I couldn’t wait to recreate back on UK soil. This city carries a confident, definitive energy, both socially and sartorially, which I kept in mind when drawing up my packing list.
With a short and sweet trip and limited carry-on space, every piece I brought had to earn its place; versatile enough to rotate, layer, and adapt to the unpredictable in-between-season weather. The result? A pretty strong capsule of outfits that worked hard without getting repetitive. If you’re wondering what to wear in Paris over the next few months, here’s a little inspiration to get you started.
If you’ve explored the Parisian side of TikTok, Montmartre reigns supreme. This historic district, brimming with carefree charm, is a tourist pilgrimage—home to the Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur, some pretty incredible city views and second-hand shops aplenty.
Take advantage of the boho atmosphere to embrace layered blouses, like this one from KITRI, and a touch of suede, perhaps in the form of these boots from ALOHAS. Fair warning: Montmartre is hilly, so make sure to strap on comfortable shoes. Reward your walking efforts with a trip to Puffy cookies, and thank me later.

It doesn’t get much more blissful than a walk along the River Seine on a sunny spring day. With landmarks at every turn—Notre Dame and the Louvre to name but a few—walking quickly becomes the main event, so a comfortable outfit is essential.
This felt like my most Parisienne look of the trip—an Uber driver’s words, not mine. An oversized shirt in a seasonally trending cornflower blue feels far more considered than the effort it requires, and you can’t get much more French than a pair of ballet flats.
A Polène bag just feels right when wandering the streets of Paris, and the Numéro Neuf East West silhouette is roomy enough for more keepsakes along the way than you might think.

Parisian style is famously pared-back and quietly cool, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room to have a little fun, especially when exploring the city’s nightlife. When heading out, I highly recommend starting with drinks at Grouvie, then making your way downstairs for a quintessentially French meal at Brasserie des Prés.
This dress from AYM is the ultimate feel-good piece; high impact yet incredibly comfortable, and perfect for those cooler spring evenings when the temperature drops. The Polène bag adds a subtle sculptural element here, perfectly complementing the silhouette of the dress with an architectural feel.

If your evenings out call for something a little edgier, more cool-girl in tone, this rotational outfit was perfect for bar jumping. The oxblood, PVC finish of this KITRI jacket worked double duty—both functional outerwear and a statement blazer—while contrasting with the fluid silk of this Ninety Percent blouse, paired with sharp, tailored trousers.
My go-to sunnies, both in Paris and at home, are 90s-esque frames from my favourite brand, DMY Studios. I have yet to find an accessory that goes with everything quite like they do.

Those who know the challenges of travelling with just hand luggage will understand the art of “wearing your wardrobe” to the airport. Yes, it can feel slightly overdressed, but if it means squeezing in a few more rotational staples, I’m all for it.
I struck a fine balance with this look, bringing along a spare basic black tee to pair with these white jeans from Heyanno, and layering the KITRI blazer for packing ease. It might be a little extra for a 40-minute flight, but needs must.
